In The Forbidden City In Beijing (1928)

By Erich Kips (PRT_8548)

Drawing inspiration from Asian design sensibilities, this project focuses on highlighting the unique features of Axor One. The Forbidden City, renowned as the palatial heart of China, served as a source of inspiration. Once home to 24 emperors and their families during the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties, the Forbidden City’s historical significance parallels Axor’s prominence in the world of luxury brands. Consequently, the Forbidden City’s grandeur and cultural heritage inspired the narrative behind this bathroom’s interior design.

The spatial layout was thoughtfully planned, drawing from the “Axis Route” concept in the Forbidden City. It encompasses a dry area at the entrance, leading to a seamless transition into the wet zone comprising the powder room and shower area.

Various design elements were incorporated, such as the prominent use of green color and jade-inspired materials, reflecting traditional Chinese culture. The vanity counter was fashioned from Amazon Green Quartzite complemented by timber panels, while green marble and polished nickel Axor One faucets imbued the interior with a sense of luxury and refined taste. The floor pattern paid homage to the Forbidden City’s iconic design style, combining three distinct materials to create a harmonious ensemble.

Regarding materials and color schemes, the project drew inspiration from the environment and architectural style of the Forbidden City, particularly the use of wooden walls and feature screens with Glamora wallcoverings. A strategically placed feature screen effectively separated the dry and wet zones.

In line with the Forbidden City’s lavish golden roofs, polished nickel was selected as the finish for the Axor One sanitary fittings in the wet area. Additionally, the feature screen’s wallcovering was custom-designed by de Gournay, adding a touch of opulence to the space.

The Bagua+Bhava team’s bathroom design, inspired by the grandeur of the Forbidden City and accentuated by Axor One’s innovative collection, is a stunning testament to the fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary luxury. By seamlessly blending Asian design elements with modern aesthetics, this project exemplifies the pinnacle of sophistication in bathroom interior design.
